It’s monsoon season and a lot of us are dealing with frizzy hair problems. Lack of hair care regime results in frizzy hair, but that shouldn’t make you run to buy expensive products to treat it. Its easy to tame the frizz, a little insight into the problem and with the use of few ingredients from our kitchen can help counter this problem and get rid of frizzy hair.
Why the frizz
The first thing we need to ask ourselves is are we eating right? Eating a protein-rich diet goes a long way in taking care of the hair texture.
If the hydration requirement of the hair cuticles is not met it leads to dry and damaged hair. So eating right and drinking lots of water along with some basic care can help u keep your frizzy hair in control.
The best piece of advice that anyone can use right now is to look for sulfate-free shampoos. They are easily available in the market ( just read the fine print on the back of the bottle). These shampoos do not strip the tresses of the moisture and let them breathe. Do not rub your hair vigorously with a towel as that causes a lot of breakages and split ends to happen and at the same time never use very hot water to wash your hair. Always try to keep it lukewarm or just normal temperature during summers.
Oil for hair care
It is not essential to oil your hair before every wash but yes let’s not forget the extra moisture and smoothness a good oil massage can bring to your scalp and the length of your hair. Of all the oils used for a hair massage, coconut oil is the best as it’s lighter and gives the required amount of dampness to your hair. It’s a good idea to warm it a little and massage on your scalp and the tresses and leave for 30-45 minutes before washing off with a mild shampoo.
Can’t emphasize much the need for a sulfate-free shampoo for a frizz ease scalp. You should look for shampoos with a high concentrate of glycerin as it hydrates the hair. Use a conditioner every time after a wash and u can ditch using it on the scalp. Applying it only in the length works just fine during the monsoon. If u need to wash your hair thrice a week, use the dry shampoo once and the other 2 times u could wash off with your regular shampoo. Let your hair air dry instead of using the dryer as the heat from the dryer causes more damage. Also do use a hair mask at least every 2 weeks to keep your tresses well-nourished during the humidity time. Immensely helpful to tame the frizz and get rid of frizzy hair.
Haircare tips at home
A homemade conditioning mask is easy to make.
Take half avocado, mix with 2 tb spoon coconut oil, and 2 tb spoon honey.
Mix it all well and apply on the hair and leave for a good 30 minutes before washing off.
Curd it up- curd is very beneficial for the hair. When mixed with equal amounts of virgin coconut oil and aloe Vera gel it can be mixed into a smooth paste and you can apply it to the lengths of your hair. Leave it for 30-45 minutes and feel the smoothness it’ll give after a shampoo.
Rice water which we can easily get at home also helps to manage frizz.
Just add 2 cups of water to half a cup of washed rice and let it sit for 30 minutes.
Now separate the water and store it in the fridge for 2 days. This can be used as a hair rinse to give a smooth texture to the hair.
A lot of new brands are now available in the market or online which use natural ingredients and help your hair ease out the frizz and nourish them.
Some of them are
Mama earth Argan Hair mask for frizz control
Khadi natural herbal hair cream for dry hair
The body shop Shea butter hair mask and lots more…
